Our Endeavours
Free Educational Classes
CBNC provides free Math, Reading, Writing, Spanish and Science tutoring sessions by College Professors and Professionals. Who can sign up? Students ages 7 to 99 years young. Classes start in October through April.
Community Service
This event occurs year-round twice a month when needed. Members of the community serve to beautify our neighborhood. Other Volunteer opportunities are held throughout the year including special events such as the city wide Martin Luther King Day, Mayors Clean Up and others. Our belief is that a clean community creates a safe environment.
Candidate Night
This is a great opportunity for you to come out and talk with running candidates from the Philadelphia area. Talk about important issues concerning our region, as well as get answers to your questions on the direction of the city. This is a chance for voters to learn more about candidates, and a chance for you to express your concerns. This event takes place in the Spring and Fall months of election years. Candidates contact us directly if you would like to be apart.
Free Clothes & Furniture Give Away
This is an outdoors event and opportunity for members of the community and greater Philadelphia area and beyond to give to others in need. Bring your new/lightly used items of clothing, appliances and furniture. This is a free event that occurs in the summer.
The CBNC employment, career and business networks promotes educational and career opportunities by offering on-going free Math Tutoring Classes and information on employment and training opportunities in order to empower the community as a whole. The CBNC also supports its members who are entrepreneurs by providing them with a platform for exposure and growth via its website and at community meetings.
CBNC accomplishes its goals through the following support systems: A Block Captain Network, Awbury Arboretum, Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed Partnership, Awbury View Apartments, Equal-Partners-In-Change, Mt. Airy-USA, North Philadelphia Health Systems, Gaudenzia DRC, DePaul USA and various state and local agencies and business partners.
